Our story

Eastport isn't just where Nautilus Cottage sits; it's where the owner's story starts. Raised on the Chesapeake, he's spent a lifetime tied to this town and its waterfront. That connection carried him to the Naval Academy, then years of service as a submariner, and along the way, to meeting his wife. The cottage's name is a nod to that heritage: U.S.S. Nautilus, SSN-571, the Navy's first nuclear submarine and a touchstone of submarine history.
The cottage is an extension of that same connection. It sits walkable to the marinas, the boatyards, and the small waterfront spots that make Eastport feel unlike anywhere else, part of the same streets and shoreline that have shaped this family for years.
Whether you're in town for Commissioning Week, a boat show weekend, or just a few days by the water, staying here puts you inside that same story, in a town built by people who love the sea as much as you do.
